Understand all the work that has never been shown to you
No need to tell you that a step by step workbook is the best way to work.
After all, you probably already have read magazines, leaflets or downloadables that give you glimpse on how to make patchwork tops or quilts.
You've probably have given a try in drawing your blocks, and making a project of your own.
Even if you have experience in making quilts by following the instructions, whether you machine piece or hand piece, machine quilt or hand quilt, this course can give you insights on avoiding these situations you might have come across:
when making a quilt, you will need to prepare your shapes, to do so you will need templates, they can be made out of paper, that will need some calculation, preparation and cutting, or templates made out of acrylic, more resistant but with a set size, so which would be best?
when making a quilt, you will need some colors that will be provided by the fabric. Pieces of fabric are not just monochrome, they have prints, small scale, large scale or directional. Printed fabrics can't all be used for the same purpose, the size of the blocks will influence the choice of the fabric print, so how should that be done?
when making a quilt, you will need to distribute the colors on the quilt top in an harmonious way, you can choose to dispatch the colors on the background of the quilt or dispatch the colors on the blocks themselves, so how can that be done?
when making a quilt, you need to think about the seam allowances, should they all be open or should they all go to a side, that can be determined by a stitch in the ditch quilting but can also be determined by the thickness built by all the fabric being folded to the same side, so how does one figure that out?
when making a quilt, you need to finish all your project with the quilting pattern, it can be machine quilted or hand quilted, in a small project it can be nice to hand quilt it, so how can you optimise the use of one strand of thread?
(how that won't stop you)
want to stop looking all over the place and give a go to an A to Z, step by step course
want to stop spending hours on the internet to only get glimpse of what quilt making is all about, instead spend that time learning what you will never find anywhere else but in this course
want a new approach to quilt making where you can get the tips to personalize your quilt, a nine module course will get you there in no time
Introducing
IN JUST 9 MODULES YOU WILL BE MAKING YOUR WAY AROUND ANY QUILT PATTERN
I've been in the design business for the past thirteen years with Alice and Co Designs, I study everything about patchworks all that time, I published quilts in a French magazine, even had a fabric collection out in 2011. With my Craft Trainer Award obtained in England, I have put together a course that is easy to understand, and easy to use, what ever level you might have, there will be a module that will blow your mind.
1. has worksheets easy to use (over 300 worksheets that you will color in, cut up, draw on and use as reminders for all your upcoming projects)
2. breaks down the use of a color wheel (a color wheel made especially for you that you will never want to depart from)
3. goes through block arrangements (an easy technique that can be used anytime to create your own blocks and name them for others to use)
All designs start with a shape: a square, a triangle, a rectangle, etc. You will be making blocks of your own inspiration and creating 3, 4 or 5 patch blocks.
We all have attraction to different colors, the way to mix and match them is by using a color wheel in an original way. There are many prints, so there is a way to make an harmonious bundle.
An in depth approach to designing blocks and making a one in a kind quilt top
The ultimate use of a color wheel, either by using it on the blocks themselves or on the background of the top
Playing with the block either in a geometrical traditional way or a total scrappy way to give the quilt top an even more crazy look. No more guessing how much fabric will be needed.
Optimizing the fabric by cutting in a "non waste" way. Choosing the proper templates when preparing a block. A look into Fussy Cutting.
Anticipating the "assembly line" of a block to save time and thread, by limiting the sewing steps. Looking into the seam allowance.
Hand quilting made easy with a very smart technique never seen before.
The bias is a smart move but the folding is another way to do it.
LET ME SAY THIS UPFRONT
Designing a Quilt 101 is the most comprehensive, step by step workbook for beginners, designers or teachers in quilt shops who are looking for the "easy to use" documents to understand and grasp the quilt design.
NOW HERE IS THE DEAL
By the end of the 14 days, you will have received access to the first two modules: Shapes and Colors, meaning you will have had the opportunity to get the very first steps in the making of a quilt before making a final commitment.
If you don't feel like the concept of this project suites you, and that all the following modules won't help you reach your quilt making, because you have already the elements in your possession. Then just indicate the references of those elements, and we will refund you.

All the modules are step by step friendly as they are full of exercises, videos, PDFs. All exercises will come with the solutions or suggestions.
There are 9 modules, every week a module will become available, after 9 weeks you will have all the modules.
Each module has exercises to do, some exercises are done quickly, others can take more time. But an exercise does not need to be finished to go on the next one, so you can always come back later to finish it.
The purpose of this course is to "create" your own patterns. So there isn't a project pre set, but at the end of the course you will most likely have loads of quilts that you will want to make. Once you are ready to get to work, all the information you need will be available in the course wether you are a beginner or an expert.
This is a paid course that you will join to learn how to design your own patterns. Sharing the course is not allowed but once you get designing your own patterns, you can do what ever you want with your own work. I am giving you the tools for you to become a designer.
You will need a printer, paper, coloring pencils, pen, scissors and pins to do the exercises. Then once you get making your project, you will need all the traditional notions that you must probably already have, otherwise you can refer to the "Notions" PDF that will be provided.
It is for everybody that wish to push the quilting experience one step further. If you have been making quilts following patterns, this course will go deeper into understanding those patterns. If you want to design quilts but don't know where to start, this course will help you launch yourself. If you are a shop owner and don't have the spreadsheets, don't have the time to make them or don't know where to find them, then this course is for you.
I will be available on a Facebook group during the time of the course so you will never be left alone to figure it out. Plus each module will always be available for you to get back to.
