Sow Pebbles

blogs Dec 29, 2019

Hello everyone,

We have a French expression "semer des cailloux": to sow pebbles.

Usually it is used as the meaning of finding the way back, the original book is called "Le Petit Poucet" by Charles Perrault, in English it is called "Little Thumb".

I am not using my pebbles to find my way back but I have been sowing them for many years now, and my pebbles are all the projects I have been doing around the patchwork and quilt world.

I have been passionate about it for a long time, and I have been making and working on many projects and now all my "pebbles" are meeting up together.

I am regrouping all my pebbles, and even though at times that might have had no sense individually, now that they are all together my little pebbles are making a big picture.

I have been working hard for the past 3 months at changing things in my business. I use to go all over France to have a booth and connect with people in my industry by presenting my work, exchanging with women that were also passionate about patchwork.

I would fill up my car and drive for hours to reach the big city or the really little town to set up my booth.

I have been to Belgium and to Spain. But driving has its limits, and to reach more people, it is complicated to do it all by car. So I have decided to share my passion for the quilt industry by internet. Of course I have a website that I used to present my work, and also a blog called Lin sans l'Autre where I would share everything I did.

But now I want to connect all over the world, connect with all the passionate people out there such as yourself with this new project. And for that I needed a new website platform, and a new blog platform. Because my business Alice and Co started with cross stitch after 13 years, I have decided that 2020 will be the year I give it a change and make it all about Quilts with my new business name Alice and Co Designs.

I will keep "Alice and Co", in homage to my grand mother Alice.

So welcome and thank you for joining me in my journey in the Quilt World.

And if you get lost, well just follow the pebbles that I will leave along the way.
