DAY JOB:
It has been a week that I have been back to my day job, leaving my house at 6:15 in the morning and being back at 8:00 pm, I must admit that I have not been working much on my patchwork.
So to be drawing these mini quilt top are fun to do everyday.
I hope you are doing well beyond these crazy times.

Of course I am not going to leave to that and will continue week three and four to see a Quilt Top take shape.

NEW DAY JOB:
I am now working on a new golf course called Golf Club de Nantes, I am very happy as the environment is just beautiful.
By doing so, I don't have to worry about not being able to do fairs (which with the lockdown have been either changed to a later date or just canceled and pushed back a year).
By having a day job, I can work on my Alice and Co Designs business more freely, and not worry if a project is not reliable financially or not. Of course I would love to be able to...
Hello everybody,
After this first week, I made a video to show you how to make a mini quilt top with the Monday and Tuesday shapes.
The document has 4 weeks with different shapes each Monday, so at the end of the 4 weeks you can make a big quilt top.
The link to access the document is: DAILY THOUGHTS
Wishing you a good week.
Emmanuelle
Hello,
As the days go by, and we are still confined at home, I am losing track of what day of the week it is.
So I decided to create a document that would allow me to keep track of the day of the week and the date as well, I added on my document a list of Work of the Day, Word of the Day and Color of the Day, to keep my imagination and thoughts going.
But as I was creating this document, I could not avoid including some "patchwork" project in there.
So I came up with the idea to create a random Mini Quilt Top from shapes, motifs and blocks that would come to life as the days would go by.

I will be sharing my daily thoughts pages with you on my Instagram alice_and_co_designs and showing you how my Mini Quilt Top evolves as the days go by.

THE OHIO STAR WORKSHOP IS OUT!!
I've been working on it for the past month and am happy to have it out for you to keep busy during these Stay at Home time.
I wanted for you to have all the tools necessary to make a quilt of your own imagination. This is not your typical "Follow the instructions" method, it is a DIY WALE (Do It Yourself With A Little Explanation).
Now it isn't free, it is 50 Dollars, but I promise it is totally worth it, you will get
- a 39 page workbook, full of step by step information, full of worksheets for you to use
- a 1 hour video to explain all the steps in the workbook and how to use it to it's best
- and a 1 hour video, showing you how to cut, piece and make the Ohio Quilt top, just in case
Know that you will have access to that workshop when ever and how many times you want.
And if I make new cheatsheets, worksheets concerning the Ohio Star, it will be directly added to your workshop.
So here is the link to register: ...
I made a video of the face mask model that I made with a pouch to put a filter if needed and a nose piece with a little metal wire allowing the mask to stick against the nose and the cheekbone avoiding the fabric to go up along the eyes.
Hello everyone,
Here is the next video I made for my Sawtooth Star block.
Some advice and methods to make some of the piecing and how to optimize the chain piecing to make this quilt top as easily and quickly as possible.
This is a nice block to make with your stash, you can make it very colorful by putting a different color for each star.
You can make it in different sizes, just by adding a column or a row of blocks, I made a 9 row by 9 column quilt top, so I made 81 stars.
The block being just an 8 inch block, you can either choose to make fewer stars, or you can also change the size of the blocks depending of the templates (or if you make your pieces yourself), I used the Set B from Marti Michell, but there are other templates that allow to make the blocks smaller, the Set A for example, but also the Set N.
I hope you will have a nice time making this Sawtooth Star design.
Emmanuelle
Hello everybody,
Here is an easy block to make with templates or without templates (by replacing the "flying geese" by two half square triangles).
This block is made up of 4 shapes that can be chain cut and chain pieced, watch the video for some more information about it.
I will be preparing a PDF if the video is not enough.
You can use this block to make different designs, the same background for all the blocks with different colors for the stars, in the PDF I will make different suggestions that can be used.
You can follow my progression on my instagram anytime (alice_and_co_designs) or join my facebook group: Designing a Quilt Together
I will get some more projects together.
Have a nice week

Hello Everyone,
The third Principle of Gestalt: Similarity
I made two examples of the principles, but I sure you know lots of quilt designs that apply this principle.
Hello Everyone,
Let me tell you about the second Principle of Gestalt: Figure / Ground
By playing with the foreground and the background, you will have shapes appear, in these exemples I used the star motif.
I designed these quilt tops to illustrate the Figure / Ground, have you made any quilts that illustrates this Gestalt Principle?
Have a nice week.
Emmanuelle
