Rather than doing a traditional checker board, we are going to add some extravaganza to it.
The block has two set ups possible, I have chosen to work with 6 colors:
I am going to place these colors on my two blocks set up, I am then going to draw one block set up at the top and the other block set up on the side:
I am now going to match both set up to obtain new color set ups:
If you notice, in the diagonal I have a full blue, then a full purple all the way to the bottom to a full beige.
I will be using those set ups differently and you will see how later on.
So until the third step, have a good week.

I have a project for you for the coming few weeks.
I am going to show you how I create from scratch a quilt pattern.
I will call this project : The Checker Board Quilt
Step One: The preparation of the board
A Checker board is the alternation of a black square and a white square, if we add colors to it, it would look like this:
If we divide the checker board into 3 patch blocks, then it would look like this:
If we want to have different background colors, it would look like this:
Two block set ups come out of this, a block with the colored squares in the corners and in the middle, and a block with the colored squares on the edges:
So these are the two block set ups that we are going to work with.
Next step to follow.

By looking at this pattern, would you be able to draw it on a piece of paper and prepare all the pieces to make it without having the technical sheet?
If your answer is no, then why not join my membership Conundrum that I am launching January 1st.
Link is here: CONUNDRUM
In no time you will be able to figure out what motifs make up this type of pattern all by yourself!!
But I won't make you wait that long, let me give you the solution here and now.
The motifs that you need to make this pattern is made with the Pyramid shape:
This is the motif that composes the pattern. This is how the motif is set up to make the pattern. First you need to place your pyramid next to each other as above.
Then you will want to turn them as below:
This is the set up that will be repeated all over the pattern.
You will then add some other pieces such as half square triangles and quarter square triangles:
The light blue and dark blue set up is repeated once on the right hand side and once on the...
Hello Everyone,
Finally got the video for week four out, I didn't a very poor job of managing my new day job schedules with my blogging schedule.
I will definitely organise myself in a much better way as the weeks go by and getting use to my new day job rota.
Anyways here is the last week of this project of making a quilt top from 4 mini quilts made randomly as the days of the week went by.
This document is free and you can start it any date of the month as long as you start it on a Monday!!
Hope you will share with me your drawings and let me see you have come up with, just send me a picture on [email protected] .
I am thinking of making this quilt top, it would be fun to bring it to life.
You know what I will start choosing my fabric, if you want to make it, feel free to copy it by watching all four weeks of videos, or just have fun making your own Wonky Quilt Top.

NEW DAY JOB:
I am now working on a new golf course called Golf Club de Nantes, I am very happy as the environment is just beautiful.
By doing so, I don't have to worry about not being able to do fairs (which with the lockdown have been either changed to a later date or just canceled and pushed back a year).
By having a day job, I can work on my Alice and Co Designs business more freely, and not worry if a project is not reliable financially or not. Of course I would love to be able to...
Hello everybody,
After this first week, I made a video to show you how to make a mini quilt top with the Monday and Tuesday shapes.
The document has 4 weeks with different shapes each Monday, so at the end of the 4 weeks you can make a big quilt top.
The link to access the document is: DAILY THOUGHTS
Wishing you a good week.

Hello,
As the days go by, and we are still confined at home, I am losing track of what day of the week it is.
So I decided to create a document that would allow me to keep track of the day of the week and the date as well, I added on my document a list of Work of the Day, Word of the Day and Color of the Day, to keep my imagination and thoughts going.
But as I was creating this document, I could not avoid including some "patchwork" project in there.
So I came up with the idea to create a random Mini Quilt Top from shapes, motifs and blocks that would come to life as the days would go by.

I will be sharing my daily thoughts pages with you on my Instagram alice_and_co_designs and showing you how my Mini Quilt Top evolves as the days go by.

I made a video of the face mask model that I made with a pouch to put a filter if needed and a nose piece with a little metal wire allowing the mask to stick against the nose and the cheekbone avoiding the fabric to go up along the eyes.
Hello everyone,
Here is the next video I made for my Sawtooth Star block.
Some advice and methods to make some of the piecing and how to optimize the chain piecing to make this quilt top as easily and quickly as possible.
This is a nice block to make with your stash, you can make it very colorful by putting a different color for each star.
You can make it in different sizes, just by adding a column or a row of blocks, I made a 9 row by 9 column quilt top, so I made 81 stars.
The block being just an 8 inch block, you can either choose to make fewer stars, or you can also change the size of the blocks depending of the templates (or if you make your pieces yourself), I used the Set B from Marti Michell, but there are other templates that allow to make the blocks smaller, the Set A for example, but also the Set N.
I hope you will have a nice time making this Sawtooth Star design.
